We’re pleased to inform you that Sembcorp has been named the Water Company of the Year at Global Water Intelligence (GWI)\'s 2011 Global Water Awards in Berlin last night, April 18, 2011.

The Water Company of the Year award is the top honour at the Global Water Awards, which have been called the Oscars of the water industry. The award recognises the water company that has made the most significant contribution to the development of the international water sector in 2010. Nominees were shortlisted by a panel of experts, and the final winner was chosen through voting by members of the International Private Water Association and International Desalination Association, as well as subscribers of respected trade journals Global Water Intelligence and Water Desalination Report. Sembcorp\'s wholly-owned energy and water arm, Sembcorp Utilities, beat other international water players, Mitsui & Co, Cadagua and Agbar, to clinch the prestigious title.

Besides winning the top award, Sembcorp also clinched the Desalination Deal of the Year award for the Salalah independent water and power project in Oman. The Desalination Deal of the Year award recognises a deal signed in 2010 that represents the most significant step forward for the water industry in terms of financial innovation or in meeting the demands of challenging circumstances.

The awards were received on behalf of Sembcorp by Stephane Richer, who heads Sembcorp\'s water business in Europe, the Americas and South Africa, at the Global Water Awards’ gala dinner and awards ceremony held in conjunction with the GWI Global Water Summit.
在全球水奖庆祝宴会和颁奖典礼暨全球水资讯GWI举办的全球水峰会上，胜科欧洲、美洲和南非水业执行高级副总裁Stephane Richer代表胜科集团领奖。
Sembcorp is not new to the awards. The Sembcorp NEWater Plant was named the Water Reuse Project of the Year at the 2010 Global Water Awards, recognising it as the water reuse project that represented the most significant achievement for the industry in 2009. Sembcorp’s municipal water business, formerly known as Cascal, also won a Distinction Award (runner-up award) for Water Company of the Year at the awards in 2010.
