Shanghai based A00 Architecture has been testing ideas and materials related to sustainability in their projects for years. Deliberately avoiding China’s notorious large scale projects, their carefully controlled small to mid scale projects are challenging conventional construction and making waves on the mainland.
Their most recent projects include research in recyclable furniture, the completion of URBN: China’s first Carbon Neutral Hotel, their work in pioneering SIREwall (modern rammed-earth construction) in China and developing prototype eco-villas in Beijing. A00 is also the founder of GIGA: a foundation that does research on green building materials available in China.
