We are one of the world\'s largest firms of consulting engineers with offices in Asia, United Kingdom, Europe, Australasia, North America and Africa. Our Hong Kong Office employs over 1,000 staff engaged in the design and consulting services for a variety of building, civil engineering, transportation, environmental and industrial projects. We have been appointed as the consultant for Highways Department for undertaking the detailed design and construction supervision for Deep Bay Link (DBL) Northern & Southern Sections, and the HKSAR section of the Shenzhen Western Corridor (SWC).
The SWC/HKSAR section will take the form of a dual 3-lane elevated highway linking Deep Bay Link at Ngau Hom Shek to the Shenzhen section of SWC at the boundary of HKSAR in Deep Bay. The main elements of the Works include approximately 3km viaducts with precast segmental deck, and a cable-stayed bridge of main span 210m with steel-girder deck and a 160m tall concrete tower. The SWC construction contract (Contract No. HY/2002/21) is scheduled to commence in August 2003, for completion by December 2005.
The DBL Southern Section works involve construction of highway from south of Castle Peak Road to Yuen Long Highway. Main elements of the Works include 3.5km viaduct structures and 2.1km widening works along Yuen Long Highway including modification of existing culverts, subways and bridges. The DBL Northern Section works involve construction of 4.2km dual 3-lane highway from Ngau Hom Shek to north of Castle Peak Road. Main elements of the Works include viaduct structures, at-grade roads and ramps, together with ancillary works such as weighstation and helipad. Both the Southern Section (Contract No.HY/2002/23) and Northern Section (Contract No. HY/2002/24) are scheduled to commence in June 2003, for completion by December 2005.
We are now inviting applications for the resident positions. Terms & conditions shall be strictly in accordance with the HKSAR government rules on Resident Site Staff employment. Applicants should be able to work on shift outside normal hours of attendance when required, and to work in precast yard or prefabrication yard outside HKSAR territory when required. Also, the SWC Contract involves liaison with the Shenzhen side who will construct the Shenzhen section of SWC concurrently with the HKSAR section. Ability in Putonghua and Chinese documentation will be an advantage for professional engineering staff and for senior inspectorate staff for the SWC contract.

1.Resident Site Staff (RSS) positions marked with \"*\" Shall server both the SWC and DBL projects. The total RSS establishment for the SWC and DBL contracts will be approximately 250, all under the Principal Resident Engineer.
2.For other RSS positions (ie. those not marked with \"*\"), applicants who wish to apply for positions under the SWC contract as well as those under the DBL contracts shall submit separate applications to respond to the advertisement separately, and shall state so in each application.
