The largest shareholder---- Wardwell Braiding Machine Company is the world leading supplier of braiding equipment. Since it founding in 1911 by Simon Wardwell, the Company engineers have continually introduced advances in technology that have made Wardwell braiders the industry standard for overall value.
Wardwell first machines were used to make braided textile products. Later, the Company introduced machinery for reinforced hose and composite structures. Since the early 1970, Wardwell has invested heavily in the development of specialized braiding machines to serve the rapidly growing needs of the wire and cable industry. This added industry focus has lead Wardwell to extend its product applications and geographic boundaries significantly in recent years.
In 1994, Wardwell acquired Schnellflechter Berlin, GmbH, a German braiding machine producer with a reputation for engineering excellence and product quality. In 2001 Wardwell further expanded its braiding machinery capabilities with the acquisition of the German company Spirka. Also in 2001, Wardwell Italy was opened in Milan to extend the Company product range of automatic bobbin winders and payoff systems. In 2004 Shnellflechter and Spirka were merged to create a new entity called Wardwell Europe.
Through these acquisitions and other carefully planned alliances around the world, Wardwell continues to lead the way with products and services designed to meet today new, demanding applications for braiding technology.
