In 2007 Alpharma Inc. has expanded its presence in China with the acquisition of manufacturing operations for its Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients and Animal Health Businesses. The Animal Health business has established four new companies – two manufacturing operations :Alpharma animal health (Yantai) Co.Ltd, Alpharma animal health (Shengzhou) Co.Ltd , a trading company in Beijing to facilitate trade within China and a trading company in Hong Kong to facilitate trade within the Asian region. The Asian regional head office for Alpharma’s Animal Health business was relocated from Bangkok to Beijing early in 2007.

The new GMP manufacturing sites in China are producing products under Alpharma’s strict QC / QA standards and are targeted to expand the capacity in one year , which will provide global supply chain flexibility, and expand Alpharma’s business base in China and Asia.
