早在上世纪30年代,陶氏就已经在中国开展业务。目前,大中华区是陶氏全球第二大国际市场,陶氏在这里的总投资额达12亿美元,2011年销售额超过45.5亿美元。2011年,陶氏大中华区发布了未来增长战略,以进一步推动在中国的强劲发展,使陶氏大中华区的年销售额至2015年在2010年的基础上翻一番,达到70亿至80亿美元。
陶氏着眼于在中国的长期发展,不断提高本土研发和生产能力,培养全球性人才,致力于将地区业务打造成为陶氏全球业务中心之一。目前,陶氏在大中华地区共有七个业务中心和18个生产基地,员工约3,600名。位于上海张江高科技园区的上海陶氏中心是陶氏在亚太区的商业和创新中心,同时也是陶氏全球最大的一体化研发中心,汇聚了世界一流的研发专业技术和面向市场的应用开发实力。500多名顶尖科学家和工程师在80多间综合实验室中齐心协作,立足本地市场,满足客户需求。位于江苏省张家港市的生产设施是陶氏在中国的核心生产基地,设有世界级规模的环氧产品和醇醚工厂。

在中国,陶氏始终致力于履行企业公民责任。陶氏已通过中国青少年发展基金会捐建了13所希望工程学校。2008年在汶川大地震发生后,陶氏是第一时间向灾区捐助的企业之一,提供了总价值约1,000万人民币的现金和物资。为了让青少年了解可持续发展对城市经济的重要意义,陶氏携手国际青年成就组织(Junior Achievement)推出“我们的城市”课程,将可持续发展的理念引入课堂。

Dow entered China as early as the 1930s. Since that time, the Company has invested US$ 1.2 billion in the Greater China region, with annual sales of more than US$ 4.45 billion in 2011, which makes it the second largest international market for Dow globally. In late 2011, Dow Greater China unveiled its growth strategy to further drive its dynamic business growth, doubling its annual sales from the 2010 baseline to US$ 7-8 billion by 2015.
Dow is committed to its long-term development in Greater China by enhancing its local innovation and manufacturing capabilities and building the regional business into a global hub. Today, Dow operates 6 business centers, 18 manufacturing sites across China, and has approximately 3,600 employees. The Shanghai Dow Center (SDC), opened in 2009 in the Zhangjiang High-Tech Park in Shanghai, is the business and innovation hub for Dow in the Asia Pacific. It’s also Dow’s largest integrated R&D center worldwide, bringing together corporate R&D expertise with market-focused application development capabilities. The center has more than 500 highly skilled scientists working in over 80 world-class laboratories. Dow’s Zhangjiagang site in Jiangsu Province is the company’s core manufacturing center in China, with world-class facilities for producing epoxy and glycol ethers.
Dow, named to the Dow Jones Sustainability Index eleven times, is a globally respected leader in sustainability. Dow has also been an active contributor to sustainable development in China. It helps solve the most pressing challenges in energy, water, and infrastructure through its innovation technologies and solutions. Dow also strives to maintain Environment, Health and Health (EH&S) excellence in its operations and help improve the industry’s sustainability standards through effective partnerships. Since 2005, Dow has partnered with the Ministry of Environmental Protection, the State Administration of Work Safety, and the United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP) on projects covering cleaner production, hazardous chemicals safety management, and safety operation and emergency response. These projects have delivered significant environmental benefits.
In China, Dow is firmly committed to corporate citizenship. Through partnership with the China Youth Development Foundation, Dow has donated the funds for the construction of 13 Project Hope Schools across China. In 2008, Dow was one of the first companies to respond after the Sichuan earthquake. The Company contributed RMB 10 million in cash and products to support the earthquake-stricken region. To communicate and teach sustainability to a younger audience, Dow also partnered with Junior Achievement to launch the “Our City” program, a selective course for primary and junior high school students to learn about the role of sustainability in the urban economy.
