BACKGROUND
Darby Overseas Investments, Ltd. (“Darby”), is a global emerging markets private equity investment firm and a wholly owned subsidiary of Franklin Templeton (“FT”), one of the United States’ largest and most well known mutual fund and asset managers. FT currently manages over US$650 billion in assets and Darby currently manages approximately US$2 billion in private equity and mezzanine finance funds globally. Darby is headquartered in Washington, D.C., USA, and has a presence in all of the world’s major emerging market regions—Asia, Latin America and Central/Eastern Europe. It has 12 offices world-wide, including offices in Hong Kong, Seoul, Mumbai, Miami, Mexico City, S？o Paulo, Vienna, Budapest and Warsaw. It also has a representative presence in Tianjin, China.
Darby currently manages three private equity/mezzanine funds focusing on private equity and mezzanine investments in Asia, with committed capital over US$1.1 billion. It is also raising two additional funds with investment focus in Asia, the Global Emerging Markets Capital Fund and the India Private equity Fund, which upon initial closings will provide an additional US$600 million of assets under management.
In addition, Darby is a 33.3% joint venture partner, with the Tianjin Municipal People’s Government of China and Tano Capital (a US-based private equity fund manager) in one of the first domestic private equity fund management companies in China, JJF Equity Fund Management Co. Ltd. (“JJF”) based in Tianjin, China. In connection with it’s participation in and joint management of private equity and other projects undertaken by JJF, Darby seeks to hire for two positions, one a professional” level hire, and one and “Analyst/Associate” level hire, both to work full-time in Tianjin, China and to assist the managing Director for China with respect to various matters associated with the Tianjin and JJF projects.
