quantum wafer inc. makes mainly semiconductor wafers and high-end led chips. the wafers are used by our customers to fabricate into led devices (led chips). after packaging, leds are used in many daily life applications such as led tv, mobile phones, solid-state lighting, large-screen display, traffic light, etc.
currently the core technology of making led wafers (epitaxial wafers) lies in the design of the layer structures and the processes to realize the design. this requires deep knowledges in physics (especially quantum mechanics), materials science and engineering, chemistry, electronics／semiconductors, mechanics, etc., therefore, it posts strong technological challenges to the technical staff. as of 2011, high-end led wafers are not yet widely available on both chinese and global markets. this constrains chinese led chip companies to make only low- to mid-level led chips. quantum wafer inc. is conceived and then incorporated to overcome this problem and aims to provide high-level led wafers to chinese and asia companies. we have a strong technical team with educational backgrounds and working experiences from universities and companies in different places such as mainland china, hong kong, taiwan, europe, the us, singapore, and australia. many have master degrees or ph. d. degrees.

量晶是一家以半导体光电材料和器件为主的高科技企业。量晶光电主要生产led外延片和高端led芯片。 led芯片封装后就是市场上到处可见的“led”，用于led电视，电脑显示屏，手机，照明（半导体照明），大屏幕显示器，交通灯等。目前国内高端led外延片主要依赖于进口，它的研发及生产，将填补国内高端led外延片市场的空白，带动周边附近芯片生产、衬底材料生产的配套完善，使南海区乃至佛山、广东及全国，从原来的封装、应用集聚区域向产业链的上游延伸，同时更好的支持下游企业，对推动我国led产品经济发展及产业转型升级，改善产业结构，具有长远的战略意义。
量晶地处珠海三角洲的腹地佛山市，离广州地铁站和广州高铁南站都只有15分钟车程。公司已完成一期投资，目前已经完工的厂房至少可容纳多台mocvd机器。
目前，led外延片关键技术为外延层设计和实现设计的生长工艺。由此要求深奥的专业知识，包括物理（特别是量子物理），材料科学和工程，化学，电子工程（尤其是半导体器件物理和集成电路ic制造技术），机械等方面，所以技术难度和门槛极高。到2011年为止，高档的外延片在国内，国际市场都难买到，严重影响国产led芯片的水平和质量。量晶光电就是为了克服此技术难关和市场空档而成立，为国内公司提供高端外延片，加快led产业最高端技术的国产化进程。量晶技术团队的队员有丰富的工作经历和教育背景，在不同的大学和公司工作过，包括大陆，香港，台湾，欧洲，美国，新加坡，澳大利亚等，大部分有硕士博士学位，也有在国外大学当教授的经历。 公司同时拥有一个省级博士后研究站，具有设备先进的实验室，并与省内外高校及研究所合作共同开发led外延片新产品及相关芯片制造、封装制造等相关技术，保证了产品的领先地位。
