Ernst Rudolf Erni founded the company in Switzerland in 1947. In 1956, ERNI began manufacturing electromechanical components in Adelberg, Germany. After a period of steady growth, ERNI Electronics GmbH became the world’s first manufacturer of backplane connectors that complied with the new standard DIN 41612 in 1968. The new standard DIN 41612 has evolved into the most widely accepted standard for industrial printed-circuit board connectors in the world. ERNI has established its Asian headquarter in Singapore since 1996 and opened up sales offices in Taiwan (Taipei), South Korea (Seoul), China (Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen), India (New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore), Malaysia (Penang) and Thailand (Bangkok). Today, ERNI is the leading supplier for 2mm H.M. connectors and ZD connectors, offering a full range of backplane, board-to-board & board-to-cable connectors with superior design and continuous innovation.
As a key member in the connector market with rapid development, ERNI Asia is now investing significantly more resources into this emerging market than in the past. Our main local customers include ZTE, Huawei, Potevio, Datang, Lenovo, Fiberhome, TD Tech, Siasun, UT-Starcom, Sonoscape, Mindray, H3C, Bocom, Baud Data Communication, Eastern Communication, Nari etc. Not only we are the supplier for some international manufacturers such as Nokia Siemens Networks, Ericsson, Alcatel Lucent, Tellabs, Siemens, GE Healthcare, Intel, Cisco etc, we are also the major supplier for contract manufacturers such as Flextronics, Foxconn, Celestica, Sanmina-SCI, Jabil, TTM Technology etc.
In order to serve the China market better, ERNI Asia has set up representative offices in Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen and Wuhan. We have also been strengthening our distribution network in China. At present, we have distributors in Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen, Changzhou, Guangzhou and Hong Kong. ERNI Asia has also achieved outsourcing of some non-core products, and set up a warehouse in Hong Kong to provide better logistics. Moreover, ERNI Asia has also set up ELSA ERNI System – a backplane and cable assembly shop in Beijing. In the near future, we will also increase the connector design and its further production facilities.
