BYK was founded in 1873 in Wesel. Today, as important division of Altana Group, BYK is one of the world’s leading suppliers in the field of coatings and plastics additives.
Additives represent only approx. 1% of the overall formulation of a product. They are, however, crucial in improving the quality of product properties, such as surface smoothness, scratch resistance and gloss, or in optimizing the manufacturing process.

China representative office was established in Shanghai in 1993. Liaison offices include Beijing, Guangzhou, Taiwan, Nanjing, Wuhan, Chongqing etc. Three technical service centers are available in Guangzhou, Shanghai and Beijing, and one production site in Tongling, Anhui Province.
