Artal is a privately -held company owned by a group of prominent Belgian families. In 1985, the Company began a diversification program making selected acquisitions in targeted food sectors in North America and Europe. In 1998, the total asset is over US$ 3 billion, with over 100 subsidiaries located all over the world.
Established in 1991, Artal Food Industries is the development arm of Artal in Asia Pacific area. From its base in Hong Kong, it has been seeking business opportunities in the food industry with a view to expand the group\'s presence in the region.
Through active investment, Artal Food Industries is operating in China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia with activities in food manufacturing and retailing, trading, industrial catering and restaurants. The Company also started up both manufacturing, sales and distribution operations in China. The aggregate sales in China is expected to grow tremendously in the next few years.
Artal Beijing
Established in 1995 as the first investment and a green field operations of the Company, it mainly covers the market in the municipal areas of Beijing, Tianjin and Shenyang. Its product lines ranges from daily bread loaf, sponge cake to hamburger with a core brand Mankattan and a secondary brand Country Road , enjoying a high brand equity in the Beijing market. The operation is currently employing over 1000 employees covering production, sales, marketing, finance and human resources.
