恒生银行创立于1933年，以香港及中国内地为业务重心，並为超逾三分一的香港市民提供服务。
本行在香港设有超过一百五十间分行与自助理财中心，在中国内地则设有十二个业务据点，包括六间分行（位于北京、上海、广州、深圳、福州及南京） 、四间支行（三间在上海及一间在深圳）及两间代表处（位于厦门及东莞），同時在澳门设有分行及在台北设有办事处。
恒生银行在2004年5月以现金总额人民币十七亿二千六百万元（约港币十六亿二千六百万元）购入兴业银行15.98%的股权。
截至2005年6月底，本行之集团总资产为港币五千六百九十七亿元，而2005年上半年及2004年全年之股东应得溢利，则分别为港币六十亿四千五百万元及港币一百一十四亿元。
Founded in 1933, HANG SENG BANK focuses its business on the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and mainland China markets. The Bank serves more than one-third of the population in Hong Kong.
The Bank operates over 150 branches and automated banking centres in Hong Kong, and a network of 12 Mainland outlets, including six branches (in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Fuzhou and Nanjing); four sub-branches (three in Shanghai and one in Shenzhen) and two representative offices (in Xiamen and Dongguan). It also has a branch in Macau and a representative office in Taipei.
In May 2004, Hang Seng acquired a 15.98% stake in Industrial Bank for RMB1.726 billion (HK$1.626 billion).
With consolidated assets of HK$569.7 billion as at 30 June 2005, the Bank reported a profit attributable to shareholders of HK$6,045 million for the first six months of 2005, and HK$11.40 billion in 2004.
