The John Brooks Company , the Canadian market leader in fluid handling products, is looking for a Manager of China Operations to oversee the many manufacturing facilities we use throughout China. We are a 100% foreign-owned company that is looking for a leader to represent us in China.
Located in the Shanghai region and reporting to the president, this person will be responsible for representing John Brooks interests in all phases of product development. This includes identifying potential suppliers and products, interpreting and managing product changes and certifications, to prototype development, and on-going sourcing and quality assurance in China. The candidate should also be familiar with import/export logistics and requirements in getting these products to world markets. The candidate must be comfortable with privately owned SMBs, as well as adaptable to working with diverse range of local cultures and customs. Our supplier network extends throughout China, from Shandong to Guangzhou, Shanghai to Szechuan.
The ideal candidate will be a Mechanical Engineer with a strong technical understanding of fluid handling products (pumps, filters, strainers) and a willingness to apply and expand your engineering knowledge and abilities to other products, such as construction tools, for the North American markets. Flexibility, adaptability, open-mindedness, combined with attention to detail and quality are required traits in the successful candidate. As we purchase from several manufacturers, the willingness and ability to travel throughout China is necessary. Some international travel will also be required. Experience with quality assurance standards and procedures are a definite asset.
The candidate must be fluent in Mandarin and English with a demonstrated ability and track record in negotiating both Chinese and Western cultural differences and business practices. Developing strong working relationships with Chinese business owners and senior management is a significant role in this position as the successful candidate will be the face of John Brooks Company to our business partners.
