SABMiller is leading global beverages business with operations throughout Central and Eastern Europe, North and Central America, Asia, Africa and South Africa. Currently, the second largest brewing company in the World, by volume, with 120 million hectolitres it is also one of the worlds largest soft drinks bottles with 35 million hectolitres of volume worldwide. SAB Miller has operated, through a JV with China Resources, in China since 1994 and is currently the second largest beer company in China.
SABMiller has its primary listing in the UK and is currently ranked at number 44 in the FTSE top 100 listed companies. It also has a secondary listing in South Africa; the company has operated since 1895 and has grown rapidly, in recent times, through its involvement in the consolidation of the global beer industry. It moved to become the worlds No 2 last year following its much-publicised purchase of the Miller Brewing Group from Philip Morris for approximately USD 5 billion in May 2002.
