CMG Mahon (China) Investment Management Ltd. (CMG Mahon) is a partnership between the Commonwealth Bank Group, (through its subsidiary, the Colonial Mutual Group) and Mahon & Associates. The firm has grown in assets under management from US$20 million and one investment in late 1998 to more than US$120 million and 12 investments in 2001.
Mahon & Associates was established in 1985. Since then, the firm has advised a variety of businesses and organizations Mahon & Associates researched, marketed, and launched the China Investment Company. Listed in London in 1992, the China Investment Company (CIC) raised US$37 million for direct investment in Chinese enterprises. Mahon & Associates subsequently went on to select and evaluate enterprises for CIC, negotiate joint venture contracts and, following completion, oversee the development of the businesses.
