Our Commitment to China
AMEC is committed to creating a sustainable long-term business in China, where the company has over 70 years experience and has executed more than a hundred projects since the early 1990s. We invest for a long-term future in all the countries we work in.
Our first step in China was taken in the 1930s when we built town-gas plants (based on coal gasification) for cities including Shanghai. We also provided a new facility for Shanghai Gas Co based on naphtha reforming. During the 1990s a wide range of projects were completed, including petrochemicals and chemicals, power and infrastructure projects.
Since registration of our engineering and project management centre in Shanghai (in 2002) and of our subsequent Asset Support business in Caojin and a Chinese Engineering & Design delivery harbour (SZPE AMEC) in Songjiang and Jinshan, we have grown our staff to a total in excess of 500.
AMEC has the right combination of people, skills and experience to meet the needs of both national and international customers across all China’s rapidly growing process industries. Our in country presence and relationships mean we can deliver local solutions for national customers, while our scale and scope enable us to interact with international customers on a global scale.
