Savings Banks Foundation for International Cooperation (SBFIC)
The SBFIC is part of the Savings Banks Finance Group, the largest Banking Group in Europe. The German Savings Banks are dedicated to bringing financial services to “small people“. The Savings Banks reach a level of service quality that allows them to sustain market shares of over 50% in key target segments. This is the result of consistently developing the same business model over the course of more than 200 years.
The re-unification of West- and East-Germany demonstrated convincingly, that the business model is transferable. With equal starting conditions and against strong national and international competitors, the Savings Banks in East-Germany reached similar market shares in a short period of time.
The German Savings Banks are the oldest Micro Finance providers worldwide, owed to their more than 200 years lasting dedication to the low end of the market and penetration of the market with suitable products for small and micro customers.
For 20 years the SBFIC follows the objective of providing access to this successful business model of the German Savings Banks to financial institutions worldwide. For several years the SBFIC has successfully conducted projects in China. This work shall be intensified by a competent and engaged local team consisting of international long term experts and local Micro Finance experts.
