康明电子有限公司于1980年在香港成立。1988年起与英国合作生产多国语言翻译器，之后则一直不间断于多国语言翻译器的研发和制造。经过近20年的发展，康明电子业已成长为全球销量最大、语种最多的多国语言翻译器制造商之一。康明电子于1993年成立东莞康明电子有限公司，为公司目前最主要的开发生产基地。2004年在香港成立康明电子出版有限公司，出版了四十余套外语词典和外语教材。2005年与香港城市大学合作成立康明深圳研究所，2006年将上海办事处提升为上海康明科技有限公司，并在上海建设康明研发中心。
康明电子的多国语言翻译器和词典行销全球60多个国家和地区，其中在北美、欧洲、东南亚和中东均占有主要的市场份额。

Comet Company was established in Hong Kong in 1980, set up its first factory in Dong Guan in 1988, in later, its fellow subsidiaries, COMET ELECTRONICS (HONG KONG) LIMITED and DONGGUAN COMET ELECTRONICS CO., LTD. were established in 1991 and 1993 separately, the latter is a China and foreign joint venture. At the same period, our parent company, COMET ELECTRONICS HOLDING LIMITED was incorporated to take over the business and the previous company all became wholly owned subsidiaries of COMET under a group of reorganization.
With the rapid development of the company, In 1997, to cope with our company’s rapid growth, DONGGUAN COMET ELECTRONICS CO., LTD. moved to the new factory site with total area of 25,000 square meters which is conveniently located in the well-developed industrial zone of Dong Guan in P.R. China. In 2000, we have successfully obtained the International Organization for Standardization ISO 9001 quality assurance certification. In 2003, obtained the International Organization for Standardization ISO 9001 quality 2000 editions of certificates.
We are one of the leading manufacturers specializing in metal/voltage detectors at many years ago, with constant development of company, the production from a single with the metal/voltage detectors change to the diversification products including different type of electronic tools and Translator/Dictionaries etc.
Comet Company join in the electronic dictionary field since 1988, it succeeded in deve-oping and producing first a group of electronic dictionary once with the cooperative partner of Britain as far back as 1988. With constant development of company, it has developed into multinational language electronic dictionary of the manufactures in the world until today. The products are mainly on electronic dictionary of multinational language, and small percentage in electronic tools.
Over the past 20 years, with the English mainly, constant expansion languages of other countries, up till now, our company accumulates over 43 dictionaries of language. This multinational language dictionary that the company will still be expansion and perfection constantly. Direction one of development is increasing the new languages constantly, even include some languages of ethnic minority of our country, example Cantonese, Shanghaihua and Tibetan etc; and one of development is perfection of the existing lang-uages, such as increasing the word amount, increase the example sentence, increase national language that can be pronounced, etc… will be up to the large dictionary of 43 languages soon. The vocabulary from the single one-to-one translation turned into trans-lating each other one-to-more of the multinational electronic dictionary. In middle of year of 2007, the advance model carrying more professional database of our three language dictionary series was succeeded in producing and entered into the market. Including Eng-lish/Japanese/Chinese, English/Russian/Chinese, English/French/Chinese, English/ German/Chinese, English/Spanish/Chinese and English/Arabic/Chinese etc.
The products find a good sale in such several dozen countries and regions as America, Europe, Middle East and Asia, etc. through the general headquarters of Hong Kong. With the deepening opening-up of reform and joining The World Trade Organization of our country, exchange with other countries and increase day by day, the people study and use the second foreign language too more and more, the dictionary of the second foreign language demands being to corresponding increase. Under the great environment, huge multinational language dictionary of our company, if just satisfied with foreign countries, Demands of the substantial to the domestic repository and environment for use of study will be wasted by a piece of enormous materials. So, domestic to set up a strong ma-rketing market progressively too in 2005, there are agents in Shanghai, Beijing, Tianjin, Guangdong, Zhejiang, Fujian, Wuhan and other places, our next plan is to all set up marketing network in all parts of the country.
