In line with the strategies to expand the business of Sierra Wireless in Asia, Sierra Wireless proposes to establish an Asia R&D Design Centre in Shenzhen. The Sierra Wireless Asia R&D design centre will develop wireless data products based on the next generation 3G/4G wireless technologies and platforms from some of the world’s leading platform partners. These products will be in various form factors such as USB sticks, Express cards and embedded modules to address the 2 key high growth wireless product segments: (1) Mobile Computing and (2) Machine to Machine communications.

Sierra Wireless’s products are data centric products for enterprise, consumer and M2M applications. User expectations are such that there should be no difference in the wireless experience as compared to wireline based broadband communications. Therefore, the R&D Centre will be developing products that utilize the world’s most leading 3G/4G wireless modem technologies which currently include WCDMA, HSDPA, HSUPA, CDMA2000-1x, CDMA2000 EVDO Revision A, and will eventually encompass LTE and WiMAX.
