西门子电气传动有限公司(sedl)是西门子（中国）有限公司与中方合作伙伴天津机电工业控股集团公司(tmeic) 及天津电气传动设计研究所(tried)合资建立的生产工程型全数字控制的交流和直流传动产品及电机的基地。公司组建于1995年初，注册于天津高科技产业园区。
采用西门子公司的最新技术成果，sedl与西门子在欧美的其它生产厂按相同的功能、设计、及质量标准制造传动产品、电机及发电机。从1996年初至今相继引进了全数字交直流调速装置和传动成套产品和机车牵引变频器，牵引交流电机及风力发电机。从而向着成为中国工程传动产品第一生产厂的目标迈近了一步。现在已有几十万台sedl生产的传动产品在国内各地运行，广泛应用于冶金、矿山、石油化工、起重、电梯、造纸、纺织、公共运输及风力发电等领域。
在企业运作管理上sedl采用具有西门子特色的现代化管理模式，严格按照国际标准iso9001:2000实施从合同管理、后勤保障、生产到售后服务等全面质量管理。为优化公司内部的运作,公司引入了先进的sap系统。以产品赢得市场、以服务取信于客户，sedl与西门子(中国)有限公司联手,为客户提供从咨询、销售、技术培训到售后的全方位优质服务，让用户无论何时何地都不会有后顾之忧。
2005年12月，sedl成功通过德国dqs认证公司iso14001:2004环境管理体系认证审核，获得了环境管理体系认证证书。通过该体系的建立和实施，sedl不断提高危险化学品、固体废物、能源资源、环境监测和应急响应等方面的管理，进而有效的控制污染物排放，推进清洁生产和污染预防，更好地履行对社会的承诺。
2005年3月9日，西门子宣布投资5.5亿人民币建立sedl的新工厂。新工厂位于天津高科技产业园区内，总面积18万平米，其中厂房建筑面积6.5万平米。其目标是把座落在天津的西门子电气传动有限公司建设成为生产电机、驱动产品及发电机的全球化工厂，并为亚太市场提供服务。
作为西门子公司全球战略的重要组成部分，西门子电气传动有限公司于2007年11月成立了研究与开发部．作为西门子公司研发团队一部分，sedl研发部的产品开发平台与流程均与德国总部保持一致。在保持西门子产品一贯高品质特点的前提下，充分考虑亚太地区的实际情况来开发最适合当地的产品．

siemens electrical drives ltd. (sedl) is a joint venture production base for fully digital controlled ac and dc drives and motors owned by siemens ltd., china and its chinese partners which are tried and tmeic. sedl was set up at the beginning of 1995, registered in tianjin high-tech park.
based on the state-of-the-art technology provided by siemens ag, sedl manufactures drives and motors of the same functionality, design and quality as the siemens factories in europe and america. from the beginning of 1996 till now, we have been producing the digital ac & dc drives, medium voltage converters and different voltage motors in our three workshops p1, p2 and p3.
a big step has been spanned to the goal that being the no.1 drives manufacturer in china. now there are dozens of thousands of sedl products have been used by domestic customers, and we got good feedbacks from our customers, our products are applied in the fields of metallurgy, steel, mine, petroleum chemicals, heavy-lifting, elevator, paper and textile.
sedl adopts the modern management mode with siemens characteristic, implements the comprehensive quality control in contract management, logistics, production and after sales service according to iso9001: 2000. for further optimization of the processes, sap system was introduced to the company. winning the market with products and winning the customers with service, by co-operation with siemens ltd., china, sedl provides full scale service to all customers in all aspects from consultation, sales, technical training to after sales service, bringing satisfaction to customers.
on march 9th, 2005, siemens announced a major investment of up to 550 million rmb to build sedl’s new factory. the new factory will be located in tianjin high-tech industrial park, total area is 176,000 square meters, and construction area is around 65,000 square meters. in addition to the current products, sedl will start the production of drives and motors for traction applications in 2005 and introduce the new aluminum die casting technology for motors in 2006.
from establishment to now, sedl is in rapid progress, and the sales revenue increased year by year. by following our principle that continuous development and creating customer’s value with innovative drives, systems and services, sedl provides customers not only with products but also technical support. sedl is striving to reach the goal of becoming the centre of engineering drives in china.
