Covanta Energy is an internationally recognized owner and operator of Energy-from-Waste and power generation projects. Covanta owns, has equity investments in, and/or operates close to 60 energy generation or ancillary facilities worldwide. The energy generation facilities use a variety of fuels, including municipal solid waste, wood waste (biomass), landfill gas, water (hydroelectric), and fossil fuels. The company also owns or operates several businesses that are associated with our Energy-from-Waste operations, including a waste procurement business, landfills, and several waste transfer stations.
Covanta Energy Asia Pacific Holdings, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Covanta Energy Corporation, serves as Covanta\'s regional corporate headquarters in the Asia Pacific Region as well as its headquarters and primary investment vehicle in China. In the Asia Pacific region, Covanta is recognized as a leading developer, owner and operator of Energy-from-Waste projects. We also have equity interests in and operate independent power projects in the Philippines, Bangladesh, India, and China. Covanta conducts all of its operations in the Asia Pacific region through subsidiaries which are either wholly-owned or jointly owned in conjunction with our joint venture partners.
