In 1944 the Carpigiani brothers, Bruto and Poerio Carlo, invented automatic ice cream machine (\"Autogelatiera\"). In 1946 they formed a Company to build on the success they had created.
From those beginnings Carpigiani has grown to become the leading Company in the traditional ice cream, commonly referred to as \"Italian ice cream\", market.
In 1969 the company moved from the centre of Bologna to a site along the Via Emilia in Anzola Emilia.
Carpigiani has now expanded all over the world, making acquisitions and creating new foundations in foreign countries, in order to spread the culture of Italian ice cream across the globe.

In July 1989 Carpigiani became part of the Ali Group (Milan) and the new management further increased the Company\'s focus on technological and organizational growth. The Company then became known as Carpigiani Group, headed by Carpigiani and comprising many other ice cream machine manufacturers.
A highly efficient and widespread sales network (direct network, affiliated companies, subsidiaries and licensed companies) allows Carpigiani to be present all over the world, even in the most remote countries, as the leader in the homemade ice cream, soft ice cream, frozen yogurt, shakes, slush, confectionery and whipped cream.
