British Columbia is Canada’s western-most province, uniquely positioned at the commercial crossroads between Asia Pacific and North American markets. The provincial economy, exceeding $2 trillion CAD, represents about 12 per cent of Canada’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Blessed with a spectacular natural environment, abundant resources, a skilled multicultural workforce and a world-class research and education system, British Columbia is one of the best places in the world to invest, live, work, study and visit. While BC is recognized worldwide for its abundant natural resources – forestry, mining, oil, gas and hydro electricity – international investors are increasingly attracted to the province’s innovative technologies and research infrastructure. BC’s tax credits and exemptions have encouraged software development, manufacturing, research and development, film and TV production, digital media and clean technology advancements. One of North America’s most competitive business climates, British Columbians enjoy low taxes, streamlined regulations and a supportive, financially responsible government. This dynamic economy is expected to expand 24 per cent by 2017.
