The Group’s Energy business is managed from Brisbane, Australia. The Industry Analysis team in Rio Tinto Energy is young, dynamic and has a mandate from senior management to build world class analytical capabilities, bringing rigorous qualitative thinking and developing systematic quantitative modeling tools. The team takes a holistic, long-term view of global energy markets, spanning all primary fuels and conversion technologies.
Energy commodities, currently comprising coal and uranium businesses, are important for the Rio Tinto Group, with significant opportunities for strategic growth and development. The role of RT Energy Corporate is to position the Energy Group to take advantage of future commercial opportunities.
The team’s General Manager reports to the Chief Commercial Officer, and works closely with colleagues in business development, strategy and finance, economics, and exploration, as well as counterparts in other Rio Tinto product groups, for whom energy is an important input.
